Description
This position will be responsible for handling several facets of Boston Scientific?s technical infrastructure in its Los Gatos, CA, location. This includes close coordination with all users at the facility to ensure that the information needs of the users are being met and that the appropriate resources are being allocated to allow the user community to access company information and use the various software tools available to them.


Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Installs, maintains, diagnoses, troubleshoots and updates desktop PC systems for both hardware and software. Performs compatibility testing to ensure working configurations; maintains corporate desktop standard configuration.

Diagnoses and troubleshoots desktop systems problems. Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult, complex, and multi-faceted problems. Must be able to provide solutions that are imaginative, thorough and practicable, while remaining consistent with Boston Scientific objectives.

Able to work under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Handles frequent inter-organization and outside customer contacts. Represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.

Exercises appropriate judgment in balancing and prioritizing daily user requests with on-going project load. Able to meet assigned project milestones and desktop productivity goals regularly and with little intermediate intervention.

Assists in planning and designing PC support systems. Monitor Magic Help Desk Queue, taking ownership of support calls, and resolving support issues. Help users with day to day problems and teach them how to use basic network tools. Set up new workstations, making sure each is supplied with all corporate established software requirements.


Position Qualifications:

5-8+ years of hands-on technical experience actively supporting PCs. Must have working knowledge of PC networking - Ethernet and TCP/IP, and Microsoft office application software. Also required is extensive knowledge of Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Should have a complete understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the PC computer field. Also general knowledge in the areas of networking, client-server architecture and database design; or equivalent combination or education/experience required to perform at this level.df-tc
