This position is responsible for the design, analysis, planning, detailed engineering, documentation, implementation, and evolution of high quality video and audio services marketed to consumers and businesses as entertainment products. Directs the Planning and Engineering activities for SBC's IP Television services within its Super Headends and Video Hub Offices nationally with specific focus on the Microsoft TV2 applications.

Involved in network architecture design, feasibility and cost studies. Performs long-term planning and integration of strategic network plans and network operations. Develops and approves technical guidelines and standards for engineering and operations teams. Regularly coordinates with suppliers and reviews quality assurance issues.

Specifies hardware and software configurations for new network elements and coordinates with field support organizations to install these elements. Coordinates with Marketing, Sales, and Operations organizations to ensure all plans integrate seamlessly with existing architectures and processes. Introduces new technologies to the production environment and ensures these technologies are ready for wide scale deployment.

Performs Capacity Planning to ensure network architectures can accommodate growth. Works on problems of extremely complex scope where analysis of situations or data requires in-depth evaluation of intangible factors. Achieves results that have business benefits such as revenue generation, cost savings, and reliability/performance improvements to the network. Involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation, novel concepts and approaches.

Required Degrees/Majors/Accreditations/Skills:
3-5 years of experience in design, implementation, management, or operations in the Broadcasting, Cable Television, content creation, Computer, or Internet Service Provider industry

Education:
Associates Degree, vocational/technical certification or equivalent experience in technical field such as Broadcasting, Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
