Description
Responsibilities include: Failure Analysis is responsible for root cause analysis of Intersil?s products. Responsibilities include short loop and detailed failure analysis, bench testing, compilation of written technical reports describing analysis results and conclusions, and entering results into a database for trend analysis. This requires knowledge of electrical circuit behavior, and an understanding of semiconductor fabrication and device physics. The engineer should be capable in the use of a low power and high power optical microscope, photoemission microscopy, and the scanning electron microscope (SEM) at a minimum. The engineer must be very methodical in analysis approach and must be comfortable in the safe use and handling of chemicals. Necessary skills also include micro probing of sub-micron devices, liquid crystal analysis, device de-processing with wet chemical and dry plasma etches, experience in defect identification by visual inspection and familiarity with a computerized environment. Design experience and expertise in logical analysis of failure circuits to find the location, which is not operating correctly, and then proceed to identify the root cause failure mechanism responsible for device failure. Bench testing and/or testing with A.T.E. equipment is also involved which requires some test engineering skills including debugging of fixtures, building DUT cards, modifying sockets, and overall device testing methodology. The engineer must be able to write detailed technical reports, which requires good writing skills and knowledge of the vocabulary and acronyms used in the failure analysis field. Most importantly, good problem solving skills are required for successful identification of the root cause of a device failure. Computer skills: Personal Computers, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and Data Base skills preferred

Qualifications: BSEE or equivalent, with atleast 5+ years of experience doing Failure Analysis
