JOB SUMMARY
GUI Programmers are responsible for the overall application programming process of DCI's financial data processing products in client-server and web-based system environments by accurately and efficiently writing and maintaining new and existing programs, including designing, coding, testing, and debugging program logic and writing program documentation using methodology and programming standards established by the GUI/Web Services Department. Programmers are also accountable for maintaining, enhancing, and troubleshooting assigned applications, assisting in the design of new and existing DCI programs and systems, and providing implementation and programming support to Customer Services and Implementations during conversions and application installations.

Senior Programmer/Analyst:
Senior Programmer/Analysts frequently confer with the Technical Services Officer on assigned projects priorities and unusual problems. They are called upon for assistance with design specifications and project direction. A Senior Programmer/Analyst will be assigned some of the more difficult and abstract projects that require research and analysis before the development process begins. This individual must possess and apply a broad knowledge of technical and banking concepts to programming assignments that are complex in nature and be able to work with minimum supervision. Leadership ability is required as it provides direction and control within assigned project areas.


RESPONSIBILITIES
I. Program Writing
1. Writes structured application interface code from specifications conforming to established methodology and standards in approved languages.
2. Writes program logic to meet specifications of applicable system/environment design.
3. Codes, tests, debugs, and documents new, modified, and existing programs.
4. Uses coding methods for specific programming languages to initiate or enhance efficient program execution and performance to reach optimum application and hardware utilization.
5. Troubleshoots coding problems when necessary.
6. Works within guidelines and specifications provided to meet programming assignment goals and objectives, accurately, within the established schedule.
II. Program Testing & Maintenance
1. Thoroughly tests programs using an approved test plan and documents test results.
2. Conducts unit tests of modified and existing applications.
3. Maintains integrity of program logic and coding by establishing required checks and balances for operational control.
4. Monitors programs for expected performance.
III. Program Documentation & Education
1. Produces procedural program documentation to departmental standards as required.
2. Participates in program code reviews to verify and ensure adherence to program specifications and established standards.
3. Creates or revises program documentation, operation documentation, and/or user guides in accordance with established standards.
4. Maintains current and up-to-date knowledge of system environment platforms and related operating procedures and standards.
5. Understands and maintains programming standards and methodology established by the Programming Department and DCI in all programs coded.
IV. Programming Problem Solving & Needs Analysis
1. Promptly responds to program errors and emergency problems encountered by customers and internal users.
2. Investigates all problems and errors reported or detected in a timely manner.
3. Takes appropriate action to correct problems discovered during application operation within established protocol.
4. Analyzes end users data processing needs and develops user-oriented program solutions that will interface with existing applications in use.
5. Assists in studying and analyzing data processing functions, methods and procedures and makes recommendations concerning the feasibility of revising existing programs or adapting new applications to data processing operations that will more effectively utilize resources.

Knowledge Skills
Á§ Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of client-server and web-based programming languages, methods and standards.Á§ General knowledge and understanding of financial data processing system design methods, techniques, and standards. Á§ Familiarity with all aspects of data processing and programming interrelations. Á§ Proficiency in writing/coding in one or more commonly used programming languages in DCI and financial data processing applications. Á§ Program design, testing, and documentation skills.Á§ Knowledge of object-oriented programming methodologyÁ§ Possesses sound analytical problem determination and problem-solving skills.Á§ Advanced PC operation skills, word-processing, and spreadsheet software proficiency, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Microsoft Office applications preferred. Á§ Effective planning, coordination, time management, and organization skills.Á§ Effective and appropriate face-to-face and verbal communication skills, as well as appropriate conduct of interpersonal relations.Á§ Effective communication skills in writing and speaking clearly and concisely.
