We're looking for senior Java engineer to continue the development of our flagship educational technology product. Successful candidates will work with a team of accomplished technologists to develop an innovative e-learning platform based on an open source Java stack (MySQL, Tomcat, Apache), XML/XSLT, and web technologies (AJAX, CSS, JavaScript). Experience/Skills
* Architecting, designing and developing Java code for a 3+ tier Java-based web application. * Integrating AJAX-style front-end technologies with Java server based components, using HTML, JavaScript, CSS and XML. * Assisting in functional design of new features, components and products. * Optimizing and streamlining new and existing code. * Designing and executing system test plans. * Configuring and optimizing web application servers. You'll need the following experience and skills: * 6+ years experience with full life cycle, object-oriented design and development, including 3+ years working specifically with server-side Java. (Servlet/JSP, JDBC, etc. Note, we're more POJO than EJB, but we won't hold EJB experience against you.) * 3+ years hands on experience with with web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and XML. * 3+ years hands on experience with SQL, transactional applications, data modeling, and query optimization. * Problem-solving expertise and attention to detail. * An exceptional work ethic. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * The ability to take initiative and to work independently. It would be great if you also have: * Experience working with XSLT. * Experience with JUnit, unit or functional test automation, and test driven development. * Experience with one or more MVC or component based web frameworks. * Experience working with and developing XML based web services. * Experience with MySQL or Oracle database servers. * Domain knowledge in e-learning, distance learning or computer based training.
