xScion Solutions is an Information Technology professional services firm supporting leading commercial clients in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. We are currently supporting a small, very cool start up company that has a hot, new, mobile product with tremendous promise.

Sr. Java/Mobile Software Engineer / Technical Lead
$100-$140K based on experience, + stock options
Permanent Position
Vienna, VA

Our client is looking for an experienced software engineer who loves technical challenges and the adrenaline of building a highly viral product with lots of cool technology
Citizens and Green Card holders, only. Sorry, our client is not sponsoring H-1B candidates at this time.

You will be leading a small team in new development and will be deep into designing and developing this new product.
This is an opportunity to do new development on a viral product and get in early. Over time, the team will grow.
Our client is able to give out significant amounts of stock options given that it is early stage.

Qualifications:

- 4+ years designing (UML) and developing object-oriented systems; knowledge of key OO design patterns is crucial
- 6+ years programming in Java or related OO programming languages
- 2+ years experience with J2ME, J2ME Polish; Blackberry JDE is a big plus
- 2+ years developing distributed systems; particularly using Web services, Message Queuing, or related technologies
- 2+ years experience developing customer-facing Web systems

Other Qualifications:

- Passion and experience with automation and continuous integration
- Thrive in agile development environments
- Drive to learn about and apply new technologies
- Strong team player with small team leadership skills and solid written and verbal communications skills
- Entrepreneurial spirit

Responsibilities:

- Design and develop cutting-edge mobile applications for a variety of platforms (e.g., Blackberry, Symbian, Android, iPhone, etc.)
- Provide mobile architecture standards, design specifications, and quality oversight for software vendors and partners
- Manage and coach other developers (including staff and consultants)
