Description
Job Scope: Day to day management of an Uplink facility that supports transmission of a live 24x7 state-of-the-art cable network. Responsible for implementation, test, documentation, and system maintenance of all Uplink associated equipment.

Responsibilities:

Ensures that system and equipment documentation is current and recommends process to continuously improve documentation

Demonstrate a strong desire to continually increase technical and operational knowledge of all equipment and systems used

Ability to organize complex projects for installation or removal of equipment with little or no impact on live show operations

Advises Director of Engineering on system planning as required

Function as the subject matter expert on satellite digital transmission standards and technology

Ability to step in and function as an Uplink maintenance engineer, very much a hands on management position

Manage uplink personnel, give performance evaluation and hire personnel to work in Uplink

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:

7 plus years in the television broadcast industry in an engineering role

Minimum of 3 years in a management role of a teleport or Uplink facility

Minimum of two years documented technical training or equivalent broadcast related technical experience

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Very Detail Oriented

Excellent Follow up Skills

Ability to take direction and delegate appropriately

Ability to give direction to others

Self Managed

Interaction with vendors as appropriate

Ability to manage day to day activity of all Teleport personnel

Technical Requirements:

SA encoders and multiplexer, PNC system

Background in router programming to support A/V router in both HD or SD

Working knowledge of MATV equipment

Knowledge in utilizing all industry standard test equipment as it relates to Uplink operations: L-band scope, spectrum analyzer, Waveform scope

Firm understanding of all the technical parameters involved in digital satellite transmission such as MPEG-2, MPEG-4, IP bandwidth requirements

Must be able to function as system administrator on critical broadcast computer systems

Ability to design and implement professional broadcast systems for a wide range of projects

Preferred Requirements:

College or equivalent military training a plus.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8-5, with ability to oversee 2 nd and 3 rd shifts when requireddf-tc
