Sr. /Principal Video Engineer (SPE-1123)

Our client is developing software applications that allow people to share personal video clips with friends online both privately and publicly. We have a unique work environment with the advantages of a fast-paced, small software startup.

We are looking for a Sr. /Principal Video Engineer to join our team and to work on exciting bleeding-edge projects in the digital video creation, discovery and sharing space. You will be a senior member of the development team with significant responsibilities working along side the operations team. This role will include architecture and administration responsibilities. The position will be responsible for design, implementation and support of mission video processing systems.

Responsibilities:
- Design and Operate the media processing systems (C#, open source, commercial encoding products, MS SQL Server)
- Monitor and troubleshoot encoding and processing difficulties on an ongoing basis
- Participate in the development of and tuning of database queries, schemas, plans, etc.
- Troubleshoot and provide 24x7 encoding support
- Work directly with Product, Development and Operations teams to ensure effective and scalable execution of audio and video encoding
- Monitoring, administration and capacity management of all encoding components

Experience:
- Expert with commercial compression tools (Sony Vegas, Cleaner, Sorenson Squeeze, Canopus ProCoder)
- Expert with audio and video compression (Windows Media, Mpeg-4, Flash Video)
- Experience with video api-s (DirectShow, QuickTime, Windows Media)
- Experience with desktop video production tools (Sony Vegas, Final Cut Pro, Premiere, Avid)
- Experience writing C#, VB.net, ASP.net applications
- Experience with SQL and SQL Server
- Experience with Windows XP/2003 platforms including detailed understanding of Operating System internals
- Experience with enterprise video encoding tools a plus (AnyStream, TeleStream, Rhozet)
- Some experience managing Windows 2003 a plus
- Willing to be on call (and respond) 24x7
- Excellent objected- oriented design techniques and data modeling approaches
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to produce usable and maintainable documentation
- Demonstrated problem solving abilities and initiative
- Ability to deliver projects on schedule

Education:
- Academic Degree and industry certification holders will have an advantage in the selection process
- Computer science or MIS degree required
