Description
Our client is looking to bring in a Sr. SQL DBA to relieve their current Citrix Administrator from doing it as it is not what he does. They want to upgrade their remaining SQL 2000 Servers to 2005. The Senior DBA will focus on ensuring the reliability and scalability of the 12 SQL Server (2000/2005) databases and patch their Oracle Financials (1 database). In addition to managing and supporting existing databases, the DBA will be responsible for designing, building and implementing new databases.

The responsibilities of this position include the following:

  • Install, configure and manage SQL Server in a production environment

  • Create, maintain and implement programs for data conversions

  • Tune database parameters for optimal system performance

  • Participate in architecture discussions and recommend changes

  • Maintain data consistency between different data servers

  • Analyze, recommend and implement process improvements

  • Provide continuous monitoring and troubleshooting of database operating systems

Required Skills:
The skills, experience, and education required for this position include the following:

  • 8 years of relevant experience as a DBA in a SQL Server Windows environment
  • Demonstrated success installing, configuring and managing SQL Server databases for mission critical applications (1 Document imaging application and 12 other apps)
  • Solid understanding of logical and physical database design
  • Able to tune and troubleshoot database subsystems on a Windows Server platform
  • Heavy scripting
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex technical problems
  • Able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or MIS is preferred
  • Background: Criminal, DMV and Drug screen
