Description
A very well known company in the biomedical/biotechnology industry is seeking a Sr. Software Programmer to join their team on a contract to hire basis. This organization is on the verge of discovering certain types of cancer along with diabetes and offers the opportunity to work with cutting edge technology in scientific environment. The Programmers role is to write, code, test, and analyze software programs and applications. This includes researching, designing, documenting, and modifying software specifications throughout the production life cycle. The Programmer will also analyze and amend software errors in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide status reports where required.

Responsibilities:
-Assist developers, analysts, and designers in conceptualizing and development of new software programs and applications.
-Assist in the preparation and documentation of program requirements and specifications.
-Research and document requirements of program users.
-Consistently write, translate, and code software programs and applications according to specifications.
-Run and monitor software performance tests on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging.
-Administer critical analysis of test results and deliver solutions to problem areas.
-Generate statistics and prepare and write reports for management and/or team members on the status of the programming process.
-Write programming scripts to enhance functionality and/or appearance of company Web site and/or related Web applications as necessary.
-Conduct research on emerging application development software products, languages, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.

Position Requirements
-5+ years of experience as a Senior Software Developer
-Bachelor's in Computer Science, Master's a plus
-Strong experience in software engineering, architecture, design and development
-Java, knowledge of JDK 1.5 a plus
-Experience with web-based applications (e.g., Tomcat, Apache, JBOSS, and AJAX)
-Strong experience writing high-quality, professional code in a team environment
-Version control (e.g., CVS, Subversion)
-Knowledge of the following: Biobanking/LIMS/Logistics, OpenLaszlo, Ajax, Dojo, PHP, Groovy, etc
-Mastery of Javascript (and other flavors: ECMAScript, Jscript) for client-side input validation, asynchronous request processing, dynamic visual effects, runtime DOM manipulation, etc.
-Thorough grounding in AJAX concepts and practices, with real-world experience using the myriad Javascript libraries
-Extensive experience with Java-based MVC frameworks including Struts, Java Server Faces, Spring MVC.
-Experience with template technologies including Freemarker, Facelets, Velocity, SiteMesh, Tapestry, etc.
-Use of scripting languages for web development such as PHP, Ruby, Perl, Python and TCL
-In-depth knowledge of third-party libraries and frameworks: Spring, Hibernate, iBATIS SQL Maps, Top-Link, Castor, Jasper Reports, Freemarker, Facelets, etc.
-In-depth knowledge of GUI prototyping tools, software design, Web development technologies, and protocols
