Position Description:
  • Perform system analysis and functional decomposition of software applications to derive software quality assurance test plans.
  • Determine strategy for test case traceability and test coverage, including the creation of Software Test Specifications for all projects.
  • Develop functional and automated test procedures based on requirement and technical specifications.
  • Develop functional and automated test procedures for undocumented Legacy systems.
  • Execute test cases/procedures and accurately and concisely report both progress and defect status, including gathering and reporting on project quality metrics.
  • Enter issues, maintain issues, and manage the defect tracking system.
  • Pro-actively work with Development and Support staff in problem analysis, reproduction, and resolution.
  • Maintain a close and strong working relationship with teammates, the SQA Manager, and the various project teams.
  • Perform ad-hoc testing as needed.
  • Resolve test process issues by effectively communicating and cooperating in team-oriented project situations with the SQA Manager.
  • Troubleshoot and find root cause of issues found during testing using technical knowledge.
  • Monitors and reviews other SQA Engineers projects to ensure proper entrance and exit criteria are being met, including the adherence to the documented SDLC.
  • Will mentor and train other SQA Engineers.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • 6+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance and testing, in both a Microsoft and Unix development environment.
  • Proven ability to lead projects and oversee groups of other SQA Engineers.
  • Superior knowledge of software troubleshooting.
  • Expert knowledge of software testing disciplines and methodology (eg negative, white/Black Box, test phases, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of Transact & Jet SQL, including the creation of standard and aggregated queries.
  • Must have strong SQL testing skills
  • In-depth knowledge of Test Planning, Test Case Specification, and Test Procedure Development.
  • Have worked with technologies including: HTML, C#, ASP, Microsoft .NET, MS Access and SQL Servers.
  • Comfortable working within Windows and Unix OS environments.
  • Excellent analytical skills and commitment to continuous testing improvement.
  • Experience in using configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, debugging tools, and testing tools.
    Expert knowledge of software development life cycles and how they pertain to product validation and Quality Assurance.
  • Expertise with all phases and stages of software testing (Functional, System, Integration, Data Validation, User Acceptance, Scalability, Performance, Stress, and Load).
  • Familiarity with the tools in the Microsoft Office suite.
  • B.A./B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent field.
