JOB SUMMARY: Senior Systems Engineer / Senior Systems Administrator (TS)

Provide system administration and general Information Technology (IT) support including:

install and maintain new/updated versions of software,
reconfigure hardware/software suites,
upgrade operating systems/middleware/databases/applications and install the latest patches,
perform daily/weekly/monthly backups,
restore files,
administer user accounts,
monitor network performance,
ensure network security,
administer system mail access,
fabricate network/interface cabling, and
participate in technical meetings with customers and implement local network and computing policies.

Work with senior level personnel examining visualization oriented decision support problems for application within the intelligence community of interest.

May also be involved with supporting military Command and Control, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C2ISR) systems.

EXPERIENCE

Required

System administration will include not only typical commercial system administration support, but also support for military environments such as DII COE, DODIIS, and NCES.

Knowledge of Solaris, Linux, MAC OS X, and Windows (NT, W2K, XP) operating systems is essential for performing primary duties, as well as COTS/open source software.

Knowledge of C2ISR tools/systems may include but are not limited to TES, JSIPS/JSIPS-N, GCCS, C2PC, MTIX, IPL, and Falconview, or other ISR systems.

Possess detailed knowledge of information assurance technologies for network perimeter defense, as well as server and desktop security.

Demonstrated ability to maintain, analyze, troubleshoot, and repair IT systems both hardware and software.

Requires a level of Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance, enabling access to cleared military and/or government facilities, during marketing efforts and/or implementation and/or maintenance of software package(s).

Must have or be able to obtain, at minimum, a low level clearance, but prefer a mid-level (higher than Secret) DoD Clearance.

Desired

Three (3) to Five (5) years experience in the system administration of US Intelligence Community (IC) applications.

Experience with Command and Control and, Intelligence, Surveillance or Reconnaissance (C4ISR) information systems is a definite plus.

TASKS / RESPONSIBILITIES

Required

Key Tasks include:

Install and demonstrate C2 and IC software applications.
Load, configure, and maintain lab systems, to include making hardware and software recommendations.
Perform database/web server management tasks.
Manage and administrate all operating systems, communications and connection solutions.
Manage and ensure the integrity of lab computers, multiple databases and data transfer.
Monitor and test server software performance and provide statistics and reports.
Maintain and configure network perimeter defense systems.
Document hardware/software changes as required.
Train system users as required on operating lab applications.
Provide technical support, both hardware and software, to customers staff as appropriate.

EDUCATION REQD.
Degree(s) Reqd. (min.): Associates of Science Degree plus six (6) years of experience; Bachelor of Science plus four (4) years of experience; Discipline: Computer Science & Information Technology (with concentration on Systems Administration, Information Assurance, Security Assurance)

Years of Exp. in Lieu of Degree: Five (5) to seven (7) years of Computer / IT / Technology experience.

Desired skills: 3-5 years experience on US Command and Control, Intelligence, Surveillance or Reconnaissance (C4ISR) information systems. Experience with currently fielded systems such as TES, JSIPS/JSIPS-N, GCCS, or IPL is highly desired.

SUPERVISORY TASKS / TRAVEL / PHYSICAL / SITE REQUIREMENTS

Supervision of 1 or 2 more subordinate System Administrators / System Engineers may be required
Light travel may be required (up to 25%)
Able to physically set up, move, and maintain workstations and network servers (~50 lbs)
Ability to lift and/or carry computer equipment from location to location
Able to crawl / stoop / kneel under desks, tables, etc. in order to connect / disconnect compdf-tc
