We are currently seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer for a contract with an initial term of one year in the Morrisville NC area.

Responsible for customer introduction and management of GPS products prior to general availability. Must work effectively with the Product Line Management, Engineering, Product Verification and Customer Service to ensure all NEW' GPS products are ready for first time deployment or First Office Application (FOA).

Responsibilities include a high level understanding of SS7, TCP/IP, Linux, SS7 Monitoring/MSU correlation and Open Systems in order to accurately evaluate products in customer environments and provide feedback to development when issues arise. Product evaluation will include working with the customer as the customer interface for scheduling and generating customer FOA activities, data collection and analysis, and resolution of customer issues for the GPS Business Unit.

This position will also support the Delivery, Support, and Regional Center departments by being the FOA prime on New Product teams for GPS products, ensuring installation and upgrade tools, processes and documents are developed, enhanced and/or maintained. This position will be expected to travel to other company and customer locations, therefore applicants should expect up to 25% travel. During initial field deployments, 24 x 7 on-call availability is often required.

Key responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

. Work with Engineering and Product Marketing to develop and/or enhance installation, Hardware Operational Test and End to End test tools and procedures
. Work with Documentation to develop and/or enhance both physical and test installation documented procedures
. Develop a Site Planning document that details the overall system network design for the GPS product suite deployments.
. First Office Application (FOA) prime for all GPS product/feature releases
. Provide information and Knowledge Transfer to departmental members on new product functionality and requirements as related to NPI/FOA deliverables
. Assist Installation Supervisors and Professional Services in the development and understanding of Site Planning and deployment readiness deliverables
. Active involvement in and support of continuous process and product improvements


Summary of Qualifications:
Requires a BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Engineering Technology or equivalent plus a minimum of 8-10 years of telecommunications or related experience. Ability to work with personal computers including word processors, spreadsheets, and databases. Experience with Microsoft Windows 2000/XP desired. Must have excellent customer interfacing and project management skills as well as problem solving/analytical skills. Strong leadership ability, oral/written communications and ability to work effectively with team members required. Minimum of a CCNA network certification knowledge required. CCDP Cisco certification a plus. Must have at least an RHCT level of knowledge with Linux. Having an RHCE a plus. Must be able to perform in critical situations and be willing to travel with minimal notice. Requires the ability to work with others, the ability to communicate, and the ability to foster teamwork.

. Working level understanding of SS7 and Linux are required
. Working level understanding SQL and Oracle is preferred
. Working level understanding of LAN/WAN networks with problem identification/isolation experience is preferred
. Excellent understanding of and ability to use Personal Computer Applications (i.e.EXCEL, MSWORD, MSPROJECT) are a plus
