Description
Sr. Technical Writer is responsible for developing and maintaining all user assistance documentation and internal policies/procedures in print, online and web formats. Manages projects and originates concepts for procedures and reference materials. Responsible for training junior writers and assuming some project lead functions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Write company policies and procedures and user assistance documentation.

  • Edit and maintain company underwriting guidelines and federal and state lending guidelines.

  • Write and edit intranet content.

  • Ensure intranet content integrity, message consistency, and adherence to the corporate vision.

  • Create, produce and distribute internal and external corporate communications.

  • Interface with technical staff, end-users and management to document operational processes, system modifications, reference materials, etc.

  • Manage project workloads, schedules, scope and deadlines to eliminate constraints and ensure that company and project needs are met.

  • Obtain working knowledge of business applications to effectively communicate content.

Successful candidate will have:
  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to conduct effective informational interviews by constructively listening and interpreting user needs

  • Ability to schedule, track and report on all aspects of a documentation project

  • The ability to work as part of a team or independently

  • Deadline oriented and self motivated

  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to prioritize and manage several projects simultaneously

  • Extensive knowledge of a variety of documentation tools

  • Ability to quickly learn new applications/systems

  • An advanced knowledge of design methodologies for information products as well as a basic understanding of system development methodologies.

  • Knowledge of the following applications: Microsoft Office Sutie, RoboHTML/Robo Help or other help authoring tool, DreamWeaver, Visio, Adobe Acrobat, Paint Shop Pro, Photo Shop and other publishing software as needed


Education and/or experience
  • Minimum 2+ years as a Sr. Technical Writer

  • Minimum 10 years experience as a Technical Writer in a corporate environment

  • Extensive experience writing business policies and procedures

  • Experience in the mortgage industry or related field preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in the liberal arts such as English or related field
