8+ years of IT industry experience
5+ years of 24x7 UNIX on-call IT production environment support
2+ years of RedHat system administration
2+ years Apache administration experience
2+ years JBoss application server administration experience
Strong shell scripting experience
Detailed understanding of IP-based networking, routing, firewalls, SSH, DNS, DHCP, SSL, NFS, NTP
Strong ability to troubleshoot complex production environments

A solid understanding of a UNIX-based operating system; writing scripts, system installation and configuration, automated monitoring systems, security hardening, automated management, patch management, installing third-party software, and resolving open source dependency requirements.

Experienced with networking/distributed computing environment concepts; can configure NFS, DNS, understands networking concepts such as firewall filtering, gateways, and traffic management.

Disciplined planning and management of changes designed to improve the stability, performance, and security of the overall product platform. Candidate should be experienced with formal change management procedures, documentation, testing, validation, and back-out plans.


Responsibilities:

Works independently as a technical expert. Plans, conducts, and directs research on complex projects necessitating the origination and application of new and unique approaches. Will act in a liaison capacity with other departments, divisions, and organizations. Is expected to make recommendations having significant impact on the technical aspects of projects and programs. Plans, conducts, and may supervise assignments or act as the technical lead on an assignment. Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures to assignments that are complex in nature. Identifies and researches problems to determine better utilization of infrastructure resources and the impact on daily production cycle. Recommends process improvements to ensure systems usage and availability. Ensures procedures are followed and standards are met while maintaining the appropriate documentation.

Responsible for ensuring infrastructure integrity, optimal performance and maximum service availability by recommending industry best practices for component maintenance, identifying problems and inefficiencies in the current environment and making strategic recommendations for future improvements.

Daily tasks will include prioritizing problem resolution, interaction with internal organizations such as Distributed Systems (UNIX), Security, Audit, Project Management Office, Client Services, Account Managers, Production Planners, Application Development, Quality Assurance, and various other infrastructure groups. Managing the deployment of new application environments and validating all supporting components are available for use. Successful candidates will posses the ability to take ownership of production issues and drive the issues to resolution. This activity will require interfacing with numerous teams.df-tc
