POSITION SUMMARY

Working with the Manager of Technology, the Senior Web Developer candidate will work closely with the ABC Daytime and Soapnet.com business and creative teams to develop or integrate new websites, web applications, feeds, and related technology, and help manage client and business expectations. The candidate will provide technical guidance, feedback, and oversight for all areas of front-end web development. As such, this candidate should excel in all components of web development including: layout, HTML, DHTML, CSS, AJAX, and integrating dynamic Flash components into a website, should be an expert in layout, working from wire frames, comps, or other high-concept documents.

The candidate should be experienced with Tea template development and integration with GoPublish, our Content Management System. Moreover, the candidate should be experienced in creating the initial structure for content in the CMS and the overall hierarchy for storing static content, all with an eye towards future maintainability.
The candidate for this position, working with other team members as necessary, is expected to be able to drive the development of a new website or component from prototype, wire frames, comps, or other high-concept documents to a finished product.

Additionally, the candidate will oversee day-to-day maintenance and enhancements to the existing websites, working with vendors, third-parties, and mentoring internal team members.

This candidate should be able to deliver projects successfully and on time with little oversight required and should be able to mentor other team members, and is also expected to contribute to new processes for streamlining development and deployment as needed.

    QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION
  • Expert knowledge of DHTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Experienced in JSP, PHP, ASP, or similar object-oriented server-side scripting languages.
  • Proven ability to work with and provide leadership to members of third party development teams.
  • Experience with a Content Management System, having architected a CMS structure for a new web site.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously.
  • Experience as a liaison to business, creative, and design team members for front-end site related issues.
  • Experience using libraries and frameworks like Ajax libraries in Javascript.
  • Experience mentoring other team members a plus.
  • Experience in building prototypes to convey new ideas.
  • Can serve as point of escalation, coordinate daily activities as needed, and represent the technology team to various stakeholders.
  • Insures industry standard web practices are used where possible.
  • Experience working with dynamic Flash (Flash Remoting, XML, JavaSWF).
  • A keen interest in web2.0 websites, communities, blogging, music and video sites a plus.
  • An enthusiastic user of new technologies, i.e., an early adopter.
  • Must be interested in TV.

    SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED
  • 4 year college degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • 5 or more years of web development, including expertise in HTML,DHTML, CSS, AJAX, JavaScript and at least one of the following - ASP/JSP/PHP or a similar object-oriented server-side scripting language.
  • Prior Tea template experience.
  • Prior experience setting up a GoPublish CMS and working with Content Editor.

  • Some understanding of basic Java would be a plus.
