You will work in the Technology and Engineering group and alongside the other members of our web development and production teams. You will have hands-on responsibilities for the development, testing, and deployment of front and back-end software solutions; this includes high-traffic web sites and industry-leading broadband applications. As a Staff Software Engineer you will be extensively involved in the design and implementation of the next generation of Disney.com. Reporting to the manager of the Disney.com team within Disney Online, you will be responsible for the design, architecture and implementation of new systems, features, and enhancements to Disney.com as well as integration with new and existing systems for the Disney.com website properties. You will also be responsible for giving technical guidance and support to QA and documentation teams, lead small to medium size development teams, and support all stages of the software development lifecycle.


QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience in field
7 + years of software design and implementation in Java.
Proficiency in all aspects of software architecture and development including identifying requirements, design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
Strong written and verbal skills and ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences
Strong experience with content and data driven web-based applications
Project leadership experience

SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED

Strong knowledge of Java, with experience with Spring, Struts, Hibernate, etc.
Web Technologies - HTML, JavaScript, HTTP, Servlets, JSP, PHP, XML, SOAP, AJAX
Databases - MS SQLServer, SQL, JDBC
Application/Web servers - Tomcat, IIS (EJB containers, Apache a plus)
Experience working with source control systems (VSS, CVS, PVCS, etc.)
Experience with PERL, ANT, XML
Experience with Content Management Systems and Web Publishing
Strong understanding of Object Oriented Programming and Design
Web Application Best Practices
