Position Description

Enhance and re-write portions of a database visualization tool. This tool operates in a graphical user interface (GUI) environment and graphically displays the structures of a database and its relationship with other objects. The intern will spend the internship developing small to medium enhancements to the database visualization tool. The intern will have the opportunity to develop their JAVA and Swing programming skills. The internship will involve small design assignments, coding and unit testing the assignments, and working with a Quality Assurance technician to complete final testing. In addition, the intern will learn basic IMS and z/OS terminology/concepts as applied to the visualization tool. The intern will work under the direction of a senior Software Developer and mentoring will occur throughout the internship.

Position Requirements

JAVA programming courses/experience, basic TCP/IP and Swing widget toolkit knowledge is a plus. Any exposure (coursework or work experience) to the IBM mainframe platform would also be a big plus.
Junior/Senior Undergraduate student or Graduate student. This is a summer internship running approximately mid-May/2008 through mid-August/2008. Start and end dates are somewhat flexible.
