Description
Monitoring SAN environment for performance, connectivity and interoperability between servers and clients
Identification of SAN-specific security, component and software issues; provision of SAN solutions as necessary
Implementation and testing of NITC-approved security solutions
Assurance currency of all SAN documentation and is updated when environment and/or procedures change
Inventory all data files required by each system
Check timing of backup and retention of data files
Walk-through the storage procedures for system backup
Examine the storage facility for adequacy of protective controls
Review procedures of the backup systems
Check for backup copies, adequacy, and location of backup documentation
Ensure that all operational schedules are met
Ensure appropriate backup and recovery strategies are produced and maintained in conjunction within IA guidelines
Ensure that all existing backup and recovery operational procedures are adhered to and are compliant with the NITC backup and recovery policies
Review existing disaster recovery processes and procedures
Ensure appropriate backup and recovery strategies are produced and maintained
Assist with performing system restores as needed
Provide summary reporting (as required) of detected incidents
Assist with installing/upgrading and configuring software as required
Assist with installing patches as needed to keep software up to date

Experience/Skills
Essential Knowledge:
Analytical, technical and development for UNIX system administration and architecture support. Strong knowledge of UNIX operating environment and associated peripherals. Provide analytical, technical, hardware and software support services for the management of all SUN UNIX servers that comprise the NITC development and production environments including the development of standards and technical procedures.

Bachelors degree in discipline or equivalent experience in addition to 6 years professional experience.

Essential Skills: Provides technical supervision to one or more professionals. May act as task or proposal leader.
