Position Overview

The System Administrator position will support all users with their hardware and software needs. Support includes solving hardware and software issues for desktops, laptops, high-end workstations, and mobile devices. This position may also be called upon to provide remote support to customers. Although not the primary responsibility, there is the additional possibility to support Linux servers used in our development and production environment.

Responsibilities

Work closely with the Director of Information Services to keep a small, dynamic business running smoothly
Provide technical support to office staff and customers/resellers
Troubleshoot and fix hardware problems
Troubleshoot and solve software issues
Assist with [re-]design and deployment of new or existing mission critical software and hardware server systems to support desktop/workstation users as well as Spatial Networks software and technology platforms as they are developed and updated.
Basic Job Functions & Requirements:

Sweet talk computers back to life.
Sternly chastise computers for misbehaving
If 1 & 2 fail, take two tylenol, fill up on coffee or mountain dew and work magic to resolve stubborn computer and network issues
Maintain network security software and hardware, including ant-virus, anti-spyware, software and hardware firewalls
Ensure system patches and updates are applied and all computer systems (servers, workstations, laptops, PDAs, smartphones) have latest and greatest updates and purr like kittens
Manage a diverse collection of geeky gadgets including those new fangled iphone thingys, a few overpriced Mac "computers" and a whole host of workhorses struggling to cope with Windows Vista, and associated application suites
Ability to troubleshoot, research, and solve hardware and software issues.

Excellent customer service skills when working with people of varying technical expertise
Ability to self-start and work in a team environment, responsive and energetic

Strong expertise and knowledge of Windows XP and Vista

Experience fixing computer hardware

Mac and Linux experience a plus

Networking, Cisco firewall, setup and maintenance of IPSec and/or PPTP VPNs

Familiarity with VOIP telephony and related PBX systems and technologies a plus

Experience:
Minimum of three years
College degree preferred, but not required. However, substantial experience in real-world environments will be needed to substitute.
