System Administrator (Unix/Linux)

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Linux/Unix administrator responsible for installation, configuration and support of RedHat Enterprise Linux. This position supports development to production life cycle environments including development, QA, staging and production.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Coordination of all system management activities including software upgrades, capacity planning, and performance monitoring and tuning
• Plan and coordinate testing changes, upgrades and new products, ensuring systems will operate correctly in current and future environments
• After-hours environment and application support will be required
• This is a "hands on" technical position and will require the individual to handle multiple projects in a fast paced software and technical life cycle
• Interact with software, network, database, and other intra-company teams to seamlessly implement solutions to complex technical issues
• Adhere to all existing company security and software standards Proactively monitor and manage capacity. This includes (but is not limited to) monitoring CPU, memory, and IO and ensuring growth needs are planned
• Coordination and support for multiple remote locations required
• Must be able to take direction from Senior Level Administrators and execute flawlessly
• Participate in 24x7x365 support (including a rotating, weekly on-call schedule)

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum 5 years administration experience focusing on Linux Redhat technologies
• Must be able to troubleshoot performance issues in Redhat Enterprise Linux
• Strong knowledge of Redhat Enterprise Linux
• Strong verbal and written communications skills a must
• Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Must be able to write and troubleshoot Unix/Linux Shell Scripts
• Working knowledge of Redhat Satellite server for updates a plus
• Redhat Certifications a plus
• Knowledge of Sun Solaris a plus
• Knowledge of LDAP and DNS a plus.
