Job Title: System Administrator
Location: Great Neck, NY
Length: Perm
Salary: $65K

General Description:

Systems Administrator will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the existing LAN/WAN infrastructure based in the Great Neck office.
This position will also be supporting the North Carolina and Chicago offices with periodic trips to those sites.
Responsibilities include identifying and resolving hardware and software malfunctions, network problem solving, assisting with network infrastructure planning and design, participating in various networking projects intended to improve/upgrade the network infrastructure. Will also be involved with handling level 2 technical support help desk calls as well as basic UNIX configuration and administration.

Typical Responsibilities:

- Administer the corporate Active Directory and Exchange 2003 email system
- Network administration (including backup, security management, user account management, web server, internet access, and applications support).
- Assist with the configuration and administration of corporate Windows Servers, to include various UNIX based systems
- Manages small to medium sized projects according to agreed upon budgets and schedules.
- Perform preventive maintenance, perform software/hardware upgrades, patch management, backups, and firmware upgrades.
- Monitor network and server usage to report imminent capacity issues and recommend short-term solutions as well as to project and plan for future needs.
- Assist in the design and implementation of complex local and wide-area networks.
- Maintain and Support Security Policy and Procedures.

? Document systems, processes, reports and metrics as required.

? Instruct users in proper IT practices including guidelines for the maintenance of individual laptops and desktops, Outlook archives, as well as servers used in common (such as FTP site).

? Identify new technologies to improve existing systems infrastructure

? Position will require 20-30% travel

Qualifications:

? Experience with complex TCP/IP networks.

? Experience with Firewalls and VPN technologies.

? Experience with storage solutions including tape drives, SAN, NAS and other storage array systems.


? Must have knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in information technology and management of a Microsoft enterprise network system.


? Must be responsible, self-directed, detail oriented, organized, and reliable.

? Must be ready to respond to off-hour emergencies, including, if necessary, coming into the office to address situations requiring hands-on procedures.

? Must be able to handle multiple priorities, be flexible and work well with others.

? Must be able to take initiative and succeed under pressure in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
