JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES Title: System Engineer II Summary Function as key member of Enterprise Development team. Provide various needed development services to Sales force (pre/post-sales) and to business unit. Work with and provide development technical services to other departments/customers. On-site customer technical assistance/engineering to implement/support commercial medical/dental software products. Requires strong networking topology/server configuration/setup. Requires strong database knowledge/server configuration/setup. Requires some software development/database programming. Responsibilities Provide development services for pre/post-sales to sales force Perform specific skills/competence in research/analysis of involved technologies Provide development services for pre/post-sales to customers including, but not limited to: o Database/Network (LAN/WAN)/Back-up consulting o Technical discussions o Custom SQL programming o On-site technical visits - problem resolution/consulting/ install assistance/custom conversion assistance/project implementation scheduling (initial/networking/hardware/ installation/conversion/test rollout/live rollout) o Fire fighting Work with and provide development technical services to other departments and customers On-site customer technical assistance/engineering to implement/support commercial medical/dental software products Consult/design/setup/implement network servers/topologies/database server technologies Accountable for agreed upon project schedules Assist in quality assurance measures (code reviews/unit/interaction test case creation, etc.) Assist User Documentation Specialist in assembling information for user documentation Assist Technical Support/Development team in solving programming-related problems Work independently with limited supervision but keeping supervisor informed Work in office environment, participate in special projects and perform other duties as required Education Bachelors Degree in IT/IS/CS area required MCNE, MCDBA, and/or Oracle Certified Requirements Minimum of 1-3 years of software engineering experience Minimum of 3-5 years of certified networking engineering experience (MCNE preferred) and certified database administration experience (MCDBA preferred) Proficient in object-oriented software languages (preferably Java, C# , C++, SQL, Delphi) Current on new technology/development techniques within software and database industry Proficient with database server setup/administration; relational databases/SQL (Oracle/MS SQL) Proficient in network topologies/servers/security/wiring (MCNE) of LAN/WAN environments Experience/knowledge of WAN connectivity/security technologies (Internet/DSL/T1/T3/Frame Relay/ VPN/Routers/remote access/encryption/security/etc.) to securely/reliably connect remote locations Database schema modeling/comprehension Specific Domain (networking/database) experience Skills in research/analysis/project planning/implementation Ability to implement from technical specifications and/or configurations Proficient PC skills/knowledge of Windows 2000/XP/2003 workstation/server setup/development Great leadership, documentation, training, mentoring, customer-facing skills Innovation and IP experience Ability to communicate and interact professionally with customers Problem solving skills to diagnose/find/test solutions in network/database/application environment Ability to create/ perform tests Ability to multi-task and work well under high pressure Ability to work well independently as well as in a team Ability to travel to and work on location for limited periods of time at customer locations (medical/dental service providers) Preferred Experience with enterprise applications/networks/hardware/systems. Understanding of enterprise business models/management. HL7 knowledge or experience preferred.
