Description
We have an exceptional Systems Engineer position available for a solid Unix Administrator! This is a 6 month contract to hire opportunity located in Southlake, TX for an enterprise level organization.

Main Skills:

Solaris Administration
Linux Administration
System infrastructure architecture/design experience
Operational experience in supporting real-time, transaction processing environments

Position requirements:

· 3 years of experience designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting UNIX/Linux hardware solutions

· 3 years of experience supporting a high transaction, highly available, fault tolerant processing environment
· 3 years of practical experience in Change, Problem, and/or Incident management.

· Advanced understanding of specific technologies/systems such as Solaris/Linux, web/application servers (Apache, Tomcat, JBoss), database (Oracle, MySQL), network and computer operations, web-based architecture, and development techniques.

· Knowledge of security technologies, practices, and protocols

· Knowledge of network design, implementation, and troubleshooting tools and techniques, especially load balancers

Responsibilities:

· Design, implement, and maintain web (Apache) and application servers (Jboss, Tomcat) and related configurations and software.
· Provide 24x7x365 second-level oncall support
· Working with database services teams to provide support for database platforms (Oracle, MySql) as appropriate.
· Automation of maintenance and operations activities through scripting and/or small Perl applications
· Coordinate with and drive projects with data center (Unix Engineering, Network, Coverage), development, and system engineering staff.
· Advises architecture and product development on technical hardware and software issues as well as proposals for enhancements to improve site availability, reliability, and/or performance.
· Responsible for defining, designing and implementing highly available, fault tolerant hardware and software solutions.
