Description
We have an exceptional Systems Engineer position available for a solid Unix Administrator! This is a 6 month contract to hire opportunity located in Southlake, TX for an enterprise level organization.

Main Skills:

Solaris Administration
Linux Administration
System infrastructure architecture/design experience
Operational experience in supporting real-time, transaction processing environments

Position requirements:

?? 3 years of experience designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting UNIX/Linux hardware solutions

?? 3 years of experience supporting a high transaction, highly available, fault tolerant processing environment
?? 3 years of practical experience in Change, Problem, and/or Incident management.

?? Advanced understanding of specific technologies/systems such as Solaris/Linux, web/application servers (Apache, Tomcat, JBoss), database (Oracle, MySQL), network and computer operations, web-based architecture, and development techniques.

?? Knowledge of security technologies, practices, and protocols

?? Knowledge of network design, implementation, and troubleshooting tools and techniques, especially load balancers

Responsibilities:

?? Design, implement, and maintain web (Apache) and application servers (Jboss, Tomcat) and related configurations and software.
?? Provide 24x7x365 second-level oncall support
?? Working with database services teams to provide support for database platforms (Oracle, MySql) as appropriate.
?? Automation of maintenance and operations activities through scripting and/or small Perl applications
?? Coordinate with and drive projects with data center (Unix Engineering, Network, Coverage), development, and system engineering staff.
?? Advises architecture and product development on technical hardware and software issues as well as proposals for enhancements to improve site availability, reliability, and/or performance.
?? Responsible for defining, designing and implementing highly available, fault tolerant hardware and software solutions.
