Description
Exciting opportunity in Augusta, Ga to be employed by an International company with wide-area-network utilizing frame-relay technology connecting over 60 business units. There are currently multiple hardware and software platforms while in the process of standardizing in both areas.

Responsibilities:





Installs hardware and new software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems. Performs system backups and recovery. Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity.

Environment:
Administers technical operations and support of server platforms including Windows NT/2000/XP, Linux, and UNIX as well as Windows/Intel based PCs and Apple based Macs.
Ensure proper use of technology within the department and enterprise.
Assists with design and development of specifications for hardware topology and software programs.
Maintains knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures for system administration.
Actively participates on cross-functional project teams for technology projects.
Works with other Tech Ops and MTS team members on technological issues to reduce costs, improve customer service, increase productivity, etc.

Duties:
Perform system administration for systems assigned by the Tech Ops Manager.
Apply proactive management utilities and tools for system administration.
Evaluate and install patches and system upgrades.
Implement and support backup and recovery systems.
Write and maintain system documentation.
Develop, maintain, and periodically report metrics for the operating environment.
Integrate ITSM principles to system administration.
Use judgment to determine appropriate course of action when solving problems.
Interact with project team members to ensure success of project goals.
Provide escalated support for the MTS Support Center within established service level timelines.
Provide input for the development of annual capital and expense budgets for the Technical Operations department.

Experience/Skills
Mandatory qualifications:
MCSE with very strong technical knowledge of Microsofts Active Directory and Windows Operating Systems (NT 4.0/2000/2003) along with several of the following technologies: Microsoft SMS and SUS, Microsoft Clustering, Storage Area Networks (Clarion, HP XP, etc.), LANDesk, Veritas Backup Exec, HP Openview, E-mail Spam Filtering (CipherTrust, Can-IT, etc.), Enterprise Anti-virus (Norton, Trend Micro, McAfee, etc.).
Ability to work in a team environment.
Experience in implementing, developing, or supporting complex hardware topologies and software designs.
Experience in implementing, developing, or supporting hardware and software deployed in distributed sites.
Excellent analytical skills.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Very strong customer service orientation.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Good judgment skills.
Good communication skills, including verbal (telephone and in-person) and written.

Associates degree (2 year) in Computer Information Sciences, or equivalent.
