Description
Position Summary:

Assist in the Server consolidations with some Lights On support along with Project deployment of servers in the client's corporate environment. Person will be responsible for VMWare install and config's of VM and P2V and return of old servers. Change management processes must be adhered to ensuring service interruption is kept to a minimum. Some work with Application Management (AM) on break/fix situations may need attention. Strong knowledge and experience (3+ years) with Wintel IBM and Compaq hardware and Windows Server 2000/2003, Citrix and Active Directory is required.

Position Responsibilities:

35% VMWare provisioning of VMs and P2Vs (virtual machine and physical to virtual(vm))
20 % Document processes and change management for consolidations being completed / Servers/VMs
15 % Citrix install/config/deployment of both Citrix servers, Farms and other Citrix supporting components.
15 % Work with AM on server problems and production migrations and maintaining current levels on products and tools or documented exceptions
15 % Config/install/deployment of IBM and Compaq Servers, both hardware and software components

Specialized/Practical Knowledge
Advanced knowledge of Windows 2000-03 Server, VMWare ESX and WS, Citrix, IIS, OS Performance Monitoring, OS Debugging Tools, IBM and Compaq Hardware, MS Clustering,

Management Skill
Lead Problem resolution on Server related problems and process, recommend improvements.

Interaction
Assist the Team in trouble shooting problems and communicating with the AM staff. Must work well with other system engineers on the team as well as application support personnel in the AM organization.

Problem Solving
Should be able to resolve simple to complex server hardware and OS related issues, interface with vendors to get problems resolved.

Supervision
Should be able to work on own to accomplish task and assist Team members were needed.

Impact
Will have a direct impact on SLA's for the client

Magnitude
If SLA's are missed there are financial penalties on client.
