Description
Our client has an immediate need for a Unix Administrator in Cedar Rapids for a 3 - 6 month contract position. This position will provide application support for the distributed Unix server environment. The Unix server environment includes the following operating system environments: AIX, Solaris, RedHat Linux, and Suse (zLinux). Responsibilities for this position will include providing installation, ongoing customer support and communication for enterprise business unit applications in the Unix environment, deployment of business solutions, and overall application technical support in a Unix server environment. This position will require the capability to provide excellent support and planning for distributed applications in multiple geographic locations. Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must, and overall knowledge of server best practices is also required. Experience/Skills
A Bachelor's degree in computer science or related area or equivalent knowledge is required. Candidates must possess excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills. Candidates should also be able to show an overall understanding of Unix server support and be capable of participating in project teams. Candidates should have an adequate understanding of server operating systems and distributed applications with 4+ years of experience. Some evening and weekend work may be required.
