Description
Our client, a local IT company is seeking a Systems Administrator for a three month contract to hire opportunity. The candidate for this Systems Administrator position should have a Bachelor's degree, technical degree or equivalent experience as well as five or more years experience in technical and consulting work. This candidate will work closely with solutions partners, various internal teams and client service teams in order to implement messaging solutions for customers. This Systems Administrator will coordinate the implementation of the messaging solutions and focus primarily on customer implementations and migrations to the Exchange platform and will assess customer needs, documenting their requirements, designing/planning solutions and working with technical services and solutions partners in building and piloting solutions which will include implementing messaging gateway services, as well as custom reporting, directory integration, script development in VB Script or Perl, product customization and other technical requests from customers.This Systems Administrator must have experience with various proprietary messaging systems (Exchange, Lotus Notes, GroupWise, etc.) and with Microsoft Active Directory and related tools including directory synchronization. This candidate will need to be able to move customers from competitors like Lotus Notes or GroupWise to Exchange. This Professional Services Engineer must have Microsoft Exchange 5.5, 2000 and 2003 installation, configuration and migration experience, as well as Microsoft 2000 and 2003 Server installation and configuration experience. Our client hosts MS Exchange as well as their own Unix based system and this candidate will need to be able to support both platforms. PC desktop skills as well as proficiency in Unix tools and development would be a huge plus. This Systems Administrator candidate must have Software development experience, including writing code in any of the following programming languages VB Script, VB, C#, ASP, Java, Perl or SQL. This is not a coding position and is only about 15-20% of the job, but this candidate will need to be somewhat familiar with these languages (primarily VB Script, Perl and SQL) and be able to make minor modifications. This candidate should have messaging experience including knowledge of messaging protocols (i.e. POP, IMAP, SMTP, MAPI) An MCSE or MCP certification are not required for this position, but are a huge bonus, as is experience writing Statements of Work and Change Request processing and working on-site with customers in development of migration and communications plans. This candidate should have proficiency with VB Script with a focus on file and Active Directory manipulation (15-20% of the position). This Systems Administrator should also have excellent communication, organizational, project management, business and technology analysis skills as well as experience in cross-functional team leadership. The candidate for this position must be able to travel, as this position requires the entire team to travel to the Denver Technical Center occasionally.
