Description
Enterprise Engineering is looking for Contracting services to assist in a major AIX/SUN server Migration/Consolidation project.

Our infrastructure consists of 11,000+ servers spanning multiple platforms that support over 500 TB of on-line data. This includes 2,800 AIX and SUN server images.

This position is a Contractor in AIX/SUN engineering reporting directly to an engineering manager in the Enterprise Platform Services (EPS) UNIX space. The AIX engineering team plans hardware and software, and packages the system software and hardware infrastructure for all AIX and Solaris systems.

UNIX engineering is a team within Client and Platform Engineering Services (CaPES), a part of Enterprise Engineering (EE). EE is a group of 2,000+ plus people who provide 24 hour year round infrastructure management, systems monitoring and operational support to over 2,500 applications, millions of members and the 160,000 staff that constitute our medical groups and business partners.

There are more than 400 medical offices, hospitals and administrative facilities. We make about 2,100 changes a month to our applications, systems and networks, so meeting service level commitments is a big piece of the challenge.

Enterprise Platform Services plans, installs, configures and supports over 400 system software infrastructure products across multiple hardware platforms and operating systems including LINUX. Operationally this includes responsibilities covering release, change, problem and configuration management working within an ITIL process framework and Plan-Build-Run model.

Job Responsibilities

UNIX system planning, engineering and administration
Work with project teams and operational customers to analyze requirements and develop highly available systems
Develop and run small technical projects
Will participate in business and application projects and project implementation activities
Install and/or consolidate applications, develop system administration scripts, and plan version release upgrades and patches where necessary
Conduct and participate in meetings, reviews and process improvement activities


Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor?s degree or equivalent experience plus a minimum of seven years experience providing technical support for UNIX systems in a complex environment.

Extensive working knowledge in a large and complex environment is required. This must include recent IBM AIX hardware.

Candidate must have a solid background in UNIX System Administration

Must be process and documentation oriented, and able to interact and work with various teams and seniority levels within the organization.

Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience with SUN, HACMP, Virtualization in AIX/SUN is a distinct plus.df-tc
