Description
Working along with supervision, this position will provide management of the design timelines and significant issues with system design for all systems assigned. The position coordinates the efforts of IVRS Developers and support staff, and may serve as the primary liaison with clinical project management team and clients. This position serves to gather user requirements and design the technical specifications for IVR systems and reports, as well as helping to define interaction of IVR data with other databases at PPD or vendors. This position also manages IVRS project timelines and budgets as assigned.

The position is one of approximately fifty current developer/designer/validation/support positions within the IVRS Department.

While no direct financial measures are applicable, this position does serve as a designer of software systems that support Phase I through IV projects within the IVRS Department. The systems development and deployment components of these projects range in contract value from $30,000 to $1,000,000 in direct costs

Education and Experience:

B.A. or B.S. in Statistics, or computer science-related field with applicable statistical education, or comparable professional experience.

Candidates with advanced degrees (e.g., M.S. or PhD) can potentially reduce the related professional experience requirement, each case will be considered individually.

2-5 years experience in a health care or computer related field

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

-Strong understanding of relational database concepts.
-Demonstrated ability to focus on project work and efficiently bring projects to completion.
-Strong written and verbal communication skills.
-Familiarity with data manipulation or presentation tools (such as SQL, report writing packages, or MS Access).
-Demonstrated proficiency in office productivity applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Excel).
-Proficiency in database management tools (e.g., Oracle, MS Access).
-Good understanding of the clinical research process flow and drug development processes.
-Good understanding of software development process.
-Ability to effectively manage projects, budgets and timelines.
-Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and adapt to changing priorities.

Education and Experience:

B.A./B.S. degree in computer science, business, or health care related field.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

-Knowledge of GCPs and other guidelines/regulations, including international regulations regarding the conduct of clinical trials.
-Ability to develop training materials and presentations for clients and investigators, as well as staff, and to lead appropriate training sessions as required
-Demonstrated understanding of randomization methodologies.
-Past SAS Programming experience (VAX and/or PC environment)

Primary Accountabilities:

Act as the primary liaison between the client and IVRS Design ensuring timely delivery of all required IVRS services.
Gather requirements for system design and reports.
Develop system tests, data loading documentation and report validation documentation.
Develop training materials and system support guidelines and train users and support staff as needed.
Manage project budgets and timelines as they apply to IVRS to ensure services are provided in a timely manner and IVRS stays within the study budget.

There is moderate (15%) travel required for this position and no unusual work hours or environmental conditions are anticipated.
