Description
Working with limited direction, this position will provide systems analysis, design, development, testing and support for mid-sized to large information systems. Specifically, this position will work with the business users to define system requirements, design the system specifications, develop and test the program code, perform system testing, work with Operations groups in the deployment and implementation of the system and provide ongoing support for the application coordinating with the Help Desk group.


Education and Experience:

-2 years experience in applications development in a client/server environment or specialized applications technology.
-4 year degree in Computer Science or related area or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the individual with the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

-Minimum of 3 years experience with Oracle or other relational database management system.
-Experience with at least two of the following software languages or packages: PL/SQL, MSAccess, Visual Basic, Developer 2000, Lawson Financial/HR System, Domain Clintrial or Clintrace, Oracle Clinical, document management (ie. electronic publishing, submission or imaging) or internet development tools.
-Working knowledge with systems in use at PPD or within the CRO/Pharmaceutical industry considered a plus.
-Client focused approach with strong interpersonal skills.
-Must be able to multi task and pay close attention to detail

-Vendor tool certifications

Primary Accountabilities

-Identify/document user requirements for small to mid-sized applications.
-Prepare detailed system specifications based on user requirements.
-With assistance from Oracle DBA, prepare database design.
-Develop and code system components according to specifications.
-Prepare system documentation, including requirements document, specification document, test plans and user manuals.
-Perform unit and system test and, as needed, validation testing.
-Coordinate with Operations staff on deployment of application.
-Coordinate with Help Desk in providing ongoing support on application
-Provide training to end users on deployed systems
-Provide application technical support 20%
