Job Title: Systems Engineer (3rd Shift)

Reports To: Manager, Enterprise Servers

Position Overview:

This position is a key member of the Enterprise Services Group, working the third shift (11PM to 7AM) in our Milford CT, Data Center, who is responsible for Active Directory and Exchange administration, monitoring, ongoing Active Directory and Exchange analysis and troubleshooting consistent with service delivery requirements. The Candidate must have working knowledge, skills and ability to manage Enterprise Microsoft Windows Active Directory domains and provide system administration and technical support for a distributed Exchange 2003 implementation. The candidate will be responsible for installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and managing Microsoft Windows 2003 servers and work independently under general supervision to provide solutions utilizing standard messaging and directory products and services. The candidate will also be required to development and maintain detailed documentation, and be comfortable handling all levels of Exchange administration/engineering tasks and troubleshooting complex mail routing issues throughout the Enterprise. In addition, the candidate must have extensive knowledge in the following areas: Windows 2003 domains, Microsoft Clustering, antivirus solutions, DNS, TCP/IP, WINS, DHCP, RAID, server hardware, Blackberry, Fax integration and SAN/NAS technologies.

Primary Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities of this position include day to day administration of email and Active Directory technologies, including Windows 2003 Operating System, Microsoft Exchange 5.5 and 2003, SMTP, Blackberry, MacAfee Anti-virus and Active Directory in a large enterprise with offices world wide. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining the email environment by performing functions such as proactive problem management and identification of potential issues, monitoring, capacity management, performance management, preventative maintenance, email flow validation, diagnosing complex issues, and working with various technology disciplines in troubleshooting activities. The Systems Engineer coordinates activities with other systems areas (Network Operations, Data Center Operations, Help Desk, and Applications Development) and internal Email Operations and Engineering staff for analyzing and recommending technical solutions and maintaining the Messaging infrastructure.

Position Requirements:

Required Education:
Undergraduate degree in a related IT discipline or equivalent related job experience.

Required Skills:
* Must have 8+ years system administration experience in an enterprise environment.
* MSCE or progress toward MCSE
* System Administrator knowledge of Microsoft Exchange 2003.
* System Administrator knowledge of Windows 2003 Operating System.
* Thorough understanding of Microsoft Active Directory.
* Knowledge of SMTP constructs and protocols.
* Hands on hardware experience with HP and IBM Intel servers
* Advanced analytical and problem solving skills.
* Knowledge of WAN, LAN and network topologies.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written).
* Strong customer service skills and a desire to provide the best service possibledf-tc
