Systems Engineer 5

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Pre-sales system engineer support of customers in the Federal Government marketplace. The lead technologist will work closely with sales representative and Sun partners as the trusted advisor to deliver Sun technology to prospects and customers. Job responsibilities include description of product presentations to customers, build and maintain relationships with key decision makers and influencers, benchmarks, demonstration equipment staging and setup, proposal preparation, consult on configurations, system architectures and technology.

This position will provide System Engineer support to a government territory in the Maryland area reporting to the Columbia, MD Federal Advanced System Region of the Mid-Atlantic TSU.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE:
RDBMS, Internet and Web technologies,Java/C/C++ language skills, presentation skills

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
Hands on experience with UNIX, TCP/IP, networking, client/server, PC inter operability,and related technologies,large system storage experience. 4+ years of Sun or competitive UNIX workstation and server experience. Communication

and influence skills, in both one-on-one and large group settings is a must. The candidate must be self-directed and work well with partners both within and outside of Sun.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
Qualify and assist with development of responses to RFP's, RFI's and RFQ's.
