Description
SYSTEMS ENGINEER/ DATA CENTER TECHNICIAN
Walt Disney Internet Group (WDIG) develops and delivers a compelling mix of interactive entertainment and information content and services for Internet and mobile devices for audiences around the world. WDIG is both a developer of unique new media experiences specifically designed for Internet and mobile media, and a developer of new platforms for distributing content selected from broad, existing entertainment divisions and libraries of The Walt Disney Company (TWDC). Its paramount mission is to provide a safe, secure environment for consumers to experience the Disney brand anytime and anywhere as they inform and entertain themselves, look to join communities with other Disney fans, or shop for products and services. WDIG integrates the unmatched breadth of content with a best-practices approach to Internet and mobile technology and drives multiple revenue streams from premium content offerings, advertising and ecommerce. The business also provides centralized strategic leadership, business execution support and a world-class technology platform for all of the Internet properties of TWDC. WDIG partners with all divisions of the company to execute their mobile and Internet plans and directly operates Disney.com and mDisney worldwide, Disney Family.com, FamilyFun.com, Wondertime.com, Movies.com and the recently acquired Club Penguin (www.clubpenguin.com) which has further strengthened the company’s objective of establishing clear leadership in online virtual worlds for kids and families. In a move that adds to its already strong line-up of family-targeted Web properties, WDIG in December acquired iParenting Media (www. iParenting.com) which features a wide array of professional and user-generated content including thousands of articles and expert Q&A’s and hundreds of active mom message boards. Additionally, the network includes the highly-regarded iParenting Media Awards (www.iParentingMediaAwards.com), the only certified product review and awards program in the industry.
WDIG has built a strong family of branded Web sites and is now taking an aggressive position in the distribution of entertainment content to new platforms as well as embracing new technology trends in online entertainment. Through WDIG, TWDC has become an early leader in wireless and broadband content. In addition, WDIG businesses have all successfully developed and continue to grow multiple revenue streams such as advertising, premium content subscriptions, syndication and e-commerce.
TWDC Internet sites hold the number one position in the sports, kids and family categories. ESPN.com consistently ranks top among sports sites and Disney.com is the number one kid’s entertainment and family community site. Collectively, TWDC’s family of Internet sites rank sixth in online corporate presence.
