Location of this position is at Edwards Air Force Base, California.



Candidate will support the Airborne Laser Program (ABL) Beam Control/ Fire Control (BC/FC) Mechanical Test Operations in the ABL Hangar and on the flight line, and mission support room during BC/FC ground and flight testing.



Candidate must be able to perform test and troubleshooting of complex mechanical, fluid, pneumatic systems and their control room interfaces. Desirable skills include ability to plan, integrate, test and validate vehicle systems utilizing various ground support systems and coordinating between various skills including technicians, inspectors and production management. Candidate must have experience working with mechanical system interfaces with flight and ground test equipment, and writing & conducting test procedures. Familiarity with flight vehicle operations, test and checkout, procedure development, and test planning is required. Duties include working with/ modifying and testing ABL aircraft and airborne equipment; developing BC/FC detailed test plans, procedures and test information sheets; and providing inputs to control room requirements.



The candidate will ideally possess a minimum of 9 years of flight-test experience, and an extensive background in test operations. BS in mechanical or aerospace engineering is highly desired.



Candidate must be able to work in a team environment and demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills.



Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Odd shifts, odd workweeks and travel will be required.



A combination of education and experience may be considered equivalent to the degree requirement. Case-by-case evaluation must occur.



General Position Description
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Typical Minimum Education
Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 5 years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree. Considered career, or journey, level.
