Description
Responsibilities (Job Description)

Provide systems engineering support to the ATO-T-310 Terminal Applied Engineering Program (TAEP) office and ATO-T Terminal OPR's. Support the coordination and preparation of site surveys and evaluations, e.g. GTEs/CAs, Seismic Evaluations, MARS/Life Cycle Assessments for TRACONS and ATCTs. Support the development of facility cost estimates, regional work planning requirements, and project scheduling. Support the review, test, analysis, and training of designated automation tools, e.g. the Facility Information and Analysis Tool (FIAT) or other software applications as directed. Support the lead regional TAEP/ANI-20 representative to familiarize site personnel during development and delivery of TAEP deliverables. Function as the TAEP subject matter expert to assist TAEP POCs, site personnel, and FAA organizations working in support of the TAEP office to develop transition planning methodologies and Facility Master Plans (FMPs).

This position will require regional and national travel to support the TAEP office performance objectives.



Required Qualifications

Successful completion of a full professional engineering curriculum leading to a Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university. The FAA will accept an Engineering-In Training Examination (EIT) or Professional Engineering (PE) certification in lieu of a Bachelor's degree. In addition, a minimum of ten years experience in project management, coordination, implementation, general engineering and management is required. In place of a Bachelor's degree, the FAA will accept a minimum of ten (10) years experience involving Air Traffic Control systems, NAS planning, and project coordination. Knowledge and experience using automation application software is also required



Desired Qualifications

Experience working Facilities and Equipment (F&E) projects and understanding of FAA program processes. Familiarity with FAA field organizations, ATC system installation/integration, and Transition Planning methodologies. Capable of accomplishing engineering cost estimating and able to support Transition Planning initiatives for facility/system requirements.

General Position Description
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Typical Minimum Education
Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 9 years of professional experience; or 7 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree. Considered an emerging authority.
