Systems Engineer/Wintel

Level two server support position supporting Wintel Servers located in the North American Data Centers. The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of the ITIL approach to IT service management for level two positions. This position requires a rotational on call responsibilities as well as being available as a subject matter expert (SME) for certain infrastructures. There is a requirement for the on call person to respond to outages 24 hours a day when fulfilling the weekly rotational on call assignment. The current hosting center OLA requires acknowledgements to customers within 15 minutes for some systems and 1 hour on other systems and troubleshooting must begin within 1 hour of initial acknowledgement of a concern.

Skills Required:

• The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of Wintel server infrastructure with a minimum of 4 years hands-on experience supporting server infrastructure.


• The ideal candidate should possess a technical certification (eg MCSA, MCSE, MCP, etc.)


• Excellent skills in troubleshooting a windows server operating system and Intel server hardware issues.

Skills Preferred:

• Excellent written and oral communication skills


• Experience in project management.


• Wintel server hardware and windows operating system troubleshooting skills


• Experience with both Dell and IBM server hardware.


• Knowledge of Visual Basic and WMI Scripting is preferred.

Experience Preferred:
Prefer a candidate who has experience with Tivoli server monitoring as a server monitoring solution and enterprise level experience supporting 100 Servers within a data center environment.
 
Education Required:
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems or equivalent experience.
