JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
This System Engineering position resides in Enterprise Systems Management (ESM). Applicant will provide strategy and solution to monitoring business process performance and availability. Work closely with application developers and infrastructure support units to identify issues, needs and determine how to monitor business processes. Select monitoring tools, identify gaps to be developed inhouse as needed to address deficiencies with vendor products. Monitor applications through synthetic application scripts using vendor tools and by developing infrastructure code. Provide appropriate metrics to support SLA between IT and business organizations.


SKILL OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Self motivated individual with an information systems focus. College degree or equivalent experience. Five to ten years experience in various disciplines including mainframe and distributed environments. Knowledge or experience in synthetic transaction monitoring concepts and technology. Senior level position, responsible for the analysis, design, development, and implementation of transaction monitoring solutions through synthetic transaction scripting or by code development using Visual Basic or C. The position requires close interactions with AIS business customers, product vendors and a variety of technical support areas. Coding techniques for designing & developing application monitoring solutions, using Visual Basic and C programming languages. Ability to acquire working knowledge of XML and HTML and the Mercury and Empirix suite of tools including TOPAZ, QTP, Sitescope, Analytic, Hammer/IM and Onesight. Organized with the ability to multi-task on complex assignments & support services; contributes high quality results. Able to work independently with minimal supervision. Promote a positive working relationship at all levels; a dedicated team player, who consistently contributes toward project task/assignments and is willing to help coworkers design complex synthetic transaction scripts. Solid written and oral communicator.


ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION
The candidate should have solid analytical development & engineering skills. Experience with some or all of the following technologies are highly desirable: Java programming concepts, iPlanet web server technology, relational DBMS technology relative to application programming; comprehensive knowledge in internet, intranet & how networking infrastructure technology could influence application performance. Familiar with software installation & maintenance. Able to grasp new concepts in a rapidly changing technical environment. The candidate should possess the ability to communicate clearly & effectively with all levels of the organization, including technical & non-technical staff. Ability to deal with ambiguity & a rapidly evolving business climate. The candidate should understand the business drivers & have the ability to identify & align products with business needs. Interacts well with customers, management, project manager, cross-organizational peers & coworkers.df-tc
