Systems Engineer Linux WebSphere Administrator

Position Summary:
Provide application administration expertise for an IBM WebSphere environment as well as administering a variety of multi-tiered application environments, while providing level 2 and 3 support/incident resolution.

This person will work in a team environment and will be based in Stamford, CT. The team currently supports 150 Client Server, multi-tiered and Web applications.

Duties & Responsibilities
Installation, configuration, troubleshooting and ongoing maintenance of IBM WebSphere and its installed applications on a Linux platform.
Perform platform monitoring functions for the IBM WebSphere environment, in order to define monitoring standards.
Perform Release Management functions for the IBM WebSphere environment, including developing automation of WebSphere applications.
Assist development teams throughout life cycle on engineering application architectures and standards as well as interacting and assisting through application changes/deployments.
Create and maintain technical documentation for the IBM WebSphere environment, including network diagrams, installation and configuration procedures, troubleshooting guidelines, and operational procedures.
Provide level 2 & 3 support to Help Desk and Network Operations Center on application issues per established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Provide Help Desk and Network Operations Center documentation/procedures for resolving common or recurring problems.
Provide Disaster Recovery services for the IBM WebSphere environment by maintaining recovery inventory, plans and actively participating in DR testing.
Monitor application performance and provide recommendations to improve performance when appropriate.
Open, manage, and resolve application issues with external application vendors.
Work with Network Operations Center and Monitoring teams to fine-tune system and application monitors.

Qualifications:
A Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent related experience required.
Minimum 3 years supporting IBM WebSphere in a UNIX/LINUX environment required.
Experience writing technical documentation and procedures required.
Minimum 3 years server administration/system integration experience required, including installation/configuration of multi-tiered application environments.
Working knowledge of Scripting languages required.
Experience with Microsoft IIS in a Windows 2000/2003 environment preferred.
Experience with Microsoft .NET 1.1/2.0 deployments preferred.
Experience developing application monitoring or working experience with enterprise application monitoring tools preferred.
Experience with TCP/IP and Active Directory preferred.
Ability to train other Application Services Team Members on supported applications.
Experience developing application monitoring or working experience with enterprise application monitoring tools preferred.
Self-starter with the ability to take ownership and initiative requiring minimal supervision.
Strong problem solving skills with experience to support performance & configuration issues.
Excellent organization skills and an attention to detail.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Be able to consult and meet with personnel at all levels of the matrixed organization to discuss business requirements and potential solutions.df-tc
