  • This is a mid to senior level position with primary responsibility for design, implementation, systems and network administration, database and storage management, performance and utilization monitoring in a high availability mission critical production environment. *
  • The ideal candidate will come from a strong Solaris and Linux system administration background with experience supporting a 24x7 production operations. *
  • The candidate will be responsible for managing servers, SAN/NAS storage, backup and disaster recovery, LAN/WAN infrastructure, Oracle database and collaborate closely with DBA and Engineering on implementation projects. *
  • The candidate will also be responsible for server deployments, capacity and performance monitoring and tuning plus implementing best practices in a mission critical production environment.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Providing 24x7 support and systems administrations in a mission critical, high availability web based production environment* Collaborate with Engineering, QA and DBAs * Support and maintain Oracle databases (not a DBA perspective)* Identify, monitor, and track key operational metrics, including performance, utilization, throughput, etc.* Responsible for server and network infrastructure hardware and software installation, maintenance and upgrades * Monitoring system and network (LAN/WAN) activities; tuning system parameters and configurations to optimize performance; monitoring disk space and database performance * Coordinate changes to all environments with Engineering and internal Technical Support groups* Defining and managing escalation procedures* As directed by management, work directly with users and vendors in the development, implementation and deployment of systems integration projects * Determine and coordinate delivery of technical requirements for Client Services, Engineering, and QA groups* Provide support and maintain written resolutions to frequent problems as they relate to networks, hardware, software applications, and telecommunication systems * Act as a liaison between the Sales and Engineering departments * Act as a coach and mentor to support personnel and junior engineersAdditional Duties and Responsibilities: * Remain informed of job-related issues through networking, training programs, seminars and trade publications * Attend meetings when necessary * Maintain a flexible work schedule * Perform other duties when assignedRequired Experience and Skills: * Requires a Bachelors degree with emphasis in a computer related field or the equivalent skill and knowledge. Higher education is highly desirable. * Minimum of 5-7 years experience in managing and administrating systems in production environment.* Expert knowledge of Solaris and Linux plus good working knowledge of Windows 2000/2003 required* In-depth knowledge of Sun hardware platforms including storage, RAID, SAN and NAS technologies* Good knowledge of XML and UNIX scripting (e.g. Perl, Python, Shell, etc.)* Experience in deployment and maintenance of web technologies (IIS, Apache, J2EE, Tomcat, etc.)* Minimum 3 years experience with Oracle and MSSQL database systems administration. Experience with Oracle database replication and recovery a plus. * Knowledge of NetApp storage solutions is desired.* Experience in managing a virtual infrastructure (VMware) is desired.* Required strong network management experience in supporting a complex mixed UNIX, Linux and Windows network. Certification from major vendor or independent body in networking technologies (MCSE, CCNA, OCP, RHCE, SCNA/SCSA, CISA, CISSP, etc.) greatly preferred.* Required demonstrated in-depth understanding, and hands-on experience of LAN and WAN topologies, routers, switches, load balancers, firewalls, and network protocols (BGP, TCP/IP, OSPF, VoIP, LDAP, SNMP, VPN, IPSec, etc) * Experience with formal change control/management procedures* Required willingness and ability to adapt to rapid changes in order to support and use future technology * Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and people skills, both in user support and project coordination.
