Description
Responsibilities:
Distributed platform storage administrator responsible for configuration, management, and problem resolution of Open Systems LUNs on enterprise class DASD. Perform switch zoning and configuration. Assist in configuration and management of Veritas NetBackup products. Management of disk, tape, and virtual tape hardware. Assist in developing and maintaining disaster recovery process for Open System storage environment. Maintain documentation of environment. Responsible for implementing and maintaining the vendor supplied enterprise class and mid range disk subsystems for the TSYS environments. This includes all approved vendor hardware and software for enabling the developmental and operational groups to perform their assigned tasks. Serves as a technical resource for the company and is responsible for resolving issues with the hardware and software used at the TSYS installations. The Senior System Software Analyst performs assigned tasks to install, maintain, monitor, document, and recover mid range systems. Plans functionally defined assignments and goals, actions, and results clearly defined. Evaluation of significant alternatives as well as originality is required at this level. Assists supervisor in providing estimates of work effort and impact of projects and tasks. Assists junior team members in becoming active participants in maintenance functions. The Senior System Software Analyst has a broad understanding of his/her role in the department and division, the structure of the company, and the corporate culture.

Required Skills:
Four year college degree and 4 or more years professional experience OR 6 or more years professional is required. Experience with production SAN environment. Basic PC skills to include MS Word and Excel skills. Experience providing phone assistance to server administrators. Must be willing to take on-call standby rotation.


Preferred Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft, Solaris, and Linux OS. Knowledge of Emulex and Q-Logic HBA and parameters. Knowledge of SQL, Oracle, and DB2 as it relates to backup and recovery processes. Knowledge of Hitachi, IBM, McData, and EMC disk hardware. Knowledge of IBM and STK automated tape solutions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work in a team to design solutions for complex problems. Experience with DASD performance tuning. Project management skills. DASD Remote mirroring skills. Appropriate TSYS experience is preferred.
