Description
The job involves synthesizing customer contractual needs and requirements into system test solutions that acknowledges technical, schedule and cost constraints. Test tasks include: developing and directing preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures, and schedules for required verifications; coordinating testing activities with affected organizations; evaluating test requirements to insure completeness of the test program; and performing technical analysis to determine procedures and processes required to verify these test requirements. The systems test engineer must also: prepare design requirements and specifications for the needed test equipment and software required to perform the tests; design and direct the manufacturing and/or procurement of the required equipment and software; and prepare and maintain facilities required for the operations, install and check-out of all required test hardware and software. Additionally the systems test engineer will be expected to: perform analysis of test results and prepare comprehensive reports which verify and validate system performance; investigate system problems and failures discovered during test activities and initiate corrective action; and provide necessary data to Systems Engineering for final requirements sell-off.



LEVEL CHARACTERISTICS



Knowledge: Applies extensive Systems Test Engineering expertise and has knowledge of multiple engineering disciplines.



Problem Solving: Develops technical solutions to complex problems that require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.



Discretion/Latitude: Performs work without appreciable direction. Is expected to exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives and approach to assignment. Completed work is reviewed from a relatively top level perspective, desired results are expected.



Impact: May function in a project leadership role. Input is expected to guide the successful completion of projects. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve one or more major project objectives.



Liaison: Typically the prime technical contact on projects for the System Test organization. Frequent interaction with various engineering functions and other organizations is typical. Interactions with senior personnel on technical issues expected within and outside of engineering.



JOB REQUIREMENTS:



Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited college, or related scientific discipline, plus a minimum of nine (9) years engineering experience with at least two (2) years of engineering experience performing System Test functions. Additionally, the candidate must have at least two (2) years engineering experience with aircraft. Candidates must have or be able to obtain a security clearance. If a candidate has a Master?s Degree then seven (7) years of total engineering experience is acceptable, however the minimum requirements for System Test work experience and aircraft work experience must still be met.



JOB PERFERENCES:



The ideal candidate will have the following types of experience: working on military contracts, working aircraft modifications, and working directly with the aircraft. Experience working on P-3 is preferred. Engineers with Systems Engineering experience are desirable.
