Position: Senior Systems Engineer
Location: Santa Monica, CA


We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer for our Santa Monica based client. This individual will be involved with deploying Windows and Linux servers for a rapidly growing video entertainment distribution company.

Job Responsibilities

? Responsibilities include network/server design, implementation planning, and maintenance and management of file/application servers and LAN equipment
? Primarily responsible for configuration and maintenance of internal Linux and Windows database and application servers and coordination of patches/changes with our 3rd party hosting provider(s).
? Configuration and maintenance tasks for Microsoft Windows and Linux based workstations and PCs
? Responsible for deploying and maintenance of the client office automation, development, QC, and staging environments in conjunction with the developer teams
? Responsible for working with development, QC, and operations teams in conjunction with our vendors to manage the deployment and updates to the client service
? Provide day-to-day office automation support including Windows XP, printers, MS Office
? Responsible for system security and configuration including server hardening, security auditing, and other security related tasks
? Maintain high level of technical expertise and study vendor products to determine those which best meet company needs
? Make recommendations to management which may result in the purchase and installation of hardware, or software
? Recommend and maintain technology related procedures and policies
? Responsible for keeping up to date documentation of the client environment
? Coordinate 3rd party vendors and business partner engineering and IT teams and other technical groups
? Work with our internal and external CSM teams to resolve any service related outages in the timelines defined by our SLA
? Actively monitor our production systems and proactively adjust and maintain in coordination with our 3rd party providers our server and network environment.

? The must be an energetic individual, who welcomes challenge and is able to work in a fast-moving, quick response, demanding, flexible environment, with limited day-to-day supervision
? The individual must be flexible, willing to accept business and technology change. He or she must be a team player, capable of independent work, study and analysis
? Successful candidate will have a minimum of five years related experience, including functional knowledge of Linux, Microsoft Windows, TCP/IP, security; product deployment and end user support experience desirable
? 5+ years experience with supporting production systems; ability to provide concise documentation of operational procedures; experience working within a 7x24 Operations environment supporting Linux and Microsoft Windows and related software
? Must have strong communication and analytical skills, with the ability to resolve problems and explain solutions to users

Technical/Educational Requirements

Knowledge and significant hands on experience with:

? Linux server and desktop operating systems and related software (MySQL, Apache, etc)
? Microsoft Windows server and desktop operating systems (Server 2003, XP)
? Network Services (DNS, WINS, DHCP, etc.)
? Virtual Private Networks (IPSEC, PPTP, etc.)
? Supporting and maintaining Linux and Windows services (FTP, File Security, NFS, CIFS, LDAP, etc.)
