ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Operate as a team member in a global team providing 24x7 technical support to Sun's Internal Event Management and Monitoring programmes.Experienced UNIX specoalist responsible for providing system support that includes hardware, software, software applications, and networking to Sun Internal Operations. Provide a high level of customer satisfaction through the effective delivery of technical support and service programs. Additionally, candidate must be able to demonstrate "skilled" knowledge in a minimum of two disciplines (i.e., application Development, high availability, kernel/OS, databases, RAS/Disaster Recovery, Storage, and/or networks). Must be experienced in Application Development (Java, Web XML, Web services) and follow software release processes and guidelines.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

Provide TOI seminars to other support personnel.Team dynamics, business writing, stress management, time management

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

3-5 years of UNIX (preferrably with a minimum of 2 years of SunOS/Solaris experience), a demonstrated "skilled" knowledge in a minimum of two disciplines (i.e., Application Development (Java based) hardware, high availability, kernel/OS, databases, RAS/Disaster Recovery, Storage, and/or networks), knowledge of the data center environment (including working with business & mission critical systems)

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE:

Hardware & software problem isolation and resolution, skilled knowledge in system support, skilled knowledge in support of business and/or mission critical systems environments, assist in technical escalation management, provide specialized training to other support personnel.Skilled in Application Development to provide software solutions and reduce complexity within the business.

MINIMUM LEVEL OF EDUCATION:

BS Degree in Computer Science
