Description:\nJOB SUMMARY:\nInstalls, troubleshoots and maintains effective telecommunications systems for interoffice and inbound/outbound voice communications. \n\nILLUSTRATIVE ACCOUNTABILITIES:\n1. Ensures efficient Help Desk response times and minimizes operational downtime by providing technical and operational support for all telecommunications systems, servers and peripheral devices.\n2. Responsible for telephone equipment and end-user moves, adds and changes. \n3. Operates and maintains the following voice systems: Aspect ACD, Generations IVR, Unity Voice Messaging, Cellular Telephones (including managing calling plans) and pagers.\n4. Performs telecommunications wiring duties.\n5. Analyzes telephone system utilization by reviewing trunk usage and traffic reports generated from the system and makes recommendations for optimum operation.\n6. Responsible for maintaining accurate documentation of all telephony equipment, circuit Ids, telephone numbers, Dmarc points, etc. \n7. Analyzes long distance usage and costs; makes recommendations for cost effective usage.\n8. Minimizes downtime by administering routine performance checks on telephone hardware/software equipment, servers and peripheral devices. \n9. Responsible for software installations and ensures all upgrades are performed. Researches upgrade enhancements and communicates to appropriate departments. \n10. Monitors system alarms, troubleshoots and escalates to vendor for minor and major repairs; maintains trouble ticket database. Notifies all appropriate members of IT Management staff when issues impact customer service. \n11. Trains and supports end-users on the efficient use of telecommunications equipment. \n12. Participates in new technology trials to test equipment, document results and recommend alternative solutions.\n13. Stays current with new technology that could benefit the company by completing courses, attending seminars, reading publications, and networking with peers. \n14. Maintains an on-call status 24 X 7 as scheduled. \n\nQUALIFICATIONS:\n1. Two year college degree in telecommunications or comparable work experience; telecommunications certificate desirable.\n2. 3 - 4 years of progressively responsible experience with telecommunications systems.\n3. Experience with Aspect ACD, Generations IVR, and PBX preferred.\n4. Working knowledge of Windows based operating systems. \n5. Must be able to perform effectively with little or no supervision; high level of initiative required.\n6. Excellent customer service and support skills.\n7. Must be able to prioritize issues and requests based on business needs.\n8. Demonstrated written/verbal skills; strong organizational skills.\n\n\nESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:\n1. Ability to occasionally exert up to 35 lbs. of force in order to move objects.\n2. Ability to continuously use repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.\n3. Ability to continuously speak and hear detailed information and instructions.\n4. Ability to work with color coded wiring according to industry standards and installation practices.\n5. Ability to troubleshoot utilizing visual and audible standard testing equipment and diagnostic techniques.\n6. Ability to climb ladders to perform cabling installation and other work related functions.\n7. Ability to work in tight confines such as equipment racks, cabinets, etc. in which low and high voltages may be present.\n8. Ability to work with small and specialized hand tools demonstrating precision hand and finger coordination and mobility.\n9. Must possess valid California drivers license and an excellent driving record. Position requires occasional travel to the Bakersfield location, as well as various satellite locations in the Santa Barbara area. \n10.
