TEAM MANAGER-TECHNOLOGY
Disney Interactive Media Group (DIMG) is the division of The Walt Disney Company responsible for the creation and delivery of Disney branded interactive entertainment and informational content across multiple platforms including online, mobile and video game consoles around the globe.
DIMG oversees several lines of business. Disney Interactive Studios, which has five internal game development studios around the world, self publishes and distributes a broad portfolio of multi-platform video games, mobile games and interactive entertainment worldwide. Disney Online produces Disney.com, the No. 1 kids entertainment and family community Web site, for multiple platforms including PCs and mobile phones, as well as the Disney Family Network of Web sites for moms. Additionally, Disney Online develops and publishes an industry leading suite of online virtual worlds for kids and families. Disney Interactive Studios and Disney Online work together to leverage the platform-specific expertise of the collective group to create a line of interconnected, multiplatform interactive entertainment experiences. Disney Mobile Japan includes the Disney Mobile phone service as well as the region’s highly successful mobile content business. DIMG also develops new online technologies and distribution platforms and operates the online technical backbone and infrastructure that power the Web presence of The Walt Disney Company including category leaders ESPN.com, ABC.com, and ABCNEWS.com. POSITION SUMMARY
The Team Manager plays a critical role in the WDPRO organization. The Team Manager provides oversight for the analysis, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of WDPRO sites and projects. The Team Manager serves as an escalation point for live site and critical issues. The Team Manager should have experience leading operations and project efforts and be versed in the processes and standards of the Technology department. The Team Manager serves as a proxy for the Manager for the assigned product area and has responsibility for people management, including one on ones and performance reviews. Critical thinking, documentation, communication, project leadership, and pride in work are all skills critical to success in this role. The Team Manager manages teams both locally and remotely on projects and operations.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Project and Ops team support and oversight
Design and Development
Process/Standards definition, improvement, enforcement
Meetings, Planning & Review, Documentation, Estimates
QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION
Proven ability to work with all members of a project team
Experience drafting requirements and functional specifications
Must be organized and capable of tracking multiple issues simultaneously
Owns the creation and maintenance of documentation, procedures and working instructions.
Provides leadership role to web developers and engineers and promotes cross-training as well as identifying team concepts on projects and daily activities.
Manages daily processes of resources and activities assigned.
Shows initiative in constantly reassessing business needs and makes suggestions that meet those needs proactively.
Ability to follow existing programming and style guidelines to maintain consistent website look and feel and consistent quality of code.
Develops new site functionality or code-base to decrease maintenance time and increase productivity.
Recommends tools and utilities for development, testing and management of web sites and applications.
Solid understanding of HTML/DHTML/CSS, JavaScript and Content Management Systems
SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED
4+ years of web development or software engineering experience, with the ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, Java or equivalent.
Ability to interact with all levels of an organization in a professional, diplomatic, and tactful manner.
Ability to be detail-oriented with an emphasis on accuracy and delivery of high quality assignments and projects.
Must be organized and detail-oriented.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong troubleshooting skills.
Experience writing technical specifications and driving them through development.
Experience with two and three tier web architectures.
Strong leadership skills.
Solid customer service skills.
Strong commitment to fostering and promoting teamwork, must have a team player attitude.
Ability to perform multiple project tasks.
