Position: SQL Server DBA/ SQL Server Production Support

Employment Type: 3 months CONTRACT to HIRE

Job Description:

Responsibilities:

Position is located in Sacramento, CA
Production Support of an existing MS SQL Server database environment.
Ideal candidates will have worked in a Citrix environment supporting an application from Eclipsys called Sunrise Clinical Manager.
Duties include identifying, troubleshooting and resolving live database systems issues.
Managing all database maintenance plan activities including backups, indexing, integrity and consistency checks, etc.
Writing ad hoc SQL queries as needed. Support of reporting applications and generating requested reports on an as needed basis.

Qualifications:
MS SQL Server DBA experience
Citrix Metaframe experience
Implementation and support of health systems software such as Epic HyperSpace or Eclipsys Sunrise Clinical Manager
SQL and stored procedures
Reporting
OLTP databases

Additional Skills:
Databases and SQL Server Specific:
Experience with configuring, implementing and supporting high availability SQL Server clusters, including replication and log shipping experience
DTS administration expertise
Knowledgeable in Stored Procedures and SQL coding
Ability to write ad hoc queries as needed
Experience in query, index and DB IO performance tuning
Basic understanding of database design principles
Some knowledge of current hardware systems, RAID and disk subsystems commonly used in fault tolerant production environments
Ability to proactively identify, troubleshoot and resolve live database systems issues
Ability to manage all DB maintenance plan activities including backups, indexing, integrity and consistency checks, etc
Experience with Crystal Reporting Services and standard reporting paradigms
Experience running and supporting OLTP databases

Other skills:
Communication protocols and standard messaging structures (HL7, XML, TCP/IP, ODBC, ADO)
Database concepts and databases (e.g. Mumps, Cache, MS SQL Server), reporting applications (Crystal Reports, Query), reporting tools (Crystal Info Server 6.0), and logical and physical data models
Operating systems (AIX UNIX, Windows 2000/2003 (Active Directory), Linux)
Web design, web application/data integration, and methodology (ColdFusion, HTML, ASP, .NET)
Knowledge of software applications, operating platforms, business continuity, and software development methodology
Excellent communication skills
Well organized, detail oriented, self starter, able to work independently
Knowledge of problem solving resources
Knowledge of Wintel based technologies
