Description
We are currently looking for a Sr. Technical Writer with strong experience in writing training materials and documentation for healthcare software. This role is a contract-to-hire position, canddiates must be willing to go direct with the company within a 6-12 month period.

As the sole technical writer, you will have the responsibility of re-defining the entire set of documentation and training materials. This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned technical writer who is also creative. You will work closely with a cross functional team that includes product managers, R&D, QA, regulatory, project managers, and account managers.

Responsibilities
Write technical documentation for healthcare software and medical devices. Audience includes both US and European doctors, nurses, and patients (some patient documentation must be written at a maximum grade level).
Create training materials, including self-paced courses.
Recommend and implement changes in format, scope, and content of existing documents.
Redesign print documentation formats to gain cost efficiency. (For regulatory reasons, some documents must be printed and cannot be distributed electronically.)
Define the online help strategy and execute on that strategy.
Manage various vendors, including translator, printer, CD duplication, and graphic artist.
Adhere to the company style guide, branding requirements, and grade levels.
Produce and commit to project-based documentation plans, and meet committed dates and deadlines.

Requirements
Strong technical writing (5+ years), editing, project management skills.
Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
Attention to detail, highly organized.
Strong FrameMaker tool knowledge (3+ years) is a requirement, including experience with templates (either creating or editing templates), indexes, table of contents, etc. Applicants without strong FrameMaker skills will not be considered.
PowerPoint experience, including the creation of visually appealing presentations. Adobe Presenter experiences a plus.
Photoshop or other graphic editing tool experience.
Experience in online help tools.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
Ability to develop strong relationships across a matrixed organization
Results driven self starter and fast learner that has a high sense of responsibility.
Healthcare software experience a plus
If interviewed, candidates will be asked to show portfolio pieces that demonstrate strong technical writing skills and creativity.

Education
BS or BA
Certificate or MA in technical writing a plus
