Adecco Engineering and Technical, a division of the world leader in the recruitment of engineering and information technology professionals, has an immediate opening for an Technical Writer on a Contract opportunity with a leading company in Dayton, Ohio

In this position candidates primary duties will consist of writing and editing service manuals for new, existing and RFQ products. This activity includes creating service manuals that empower Field Engineers to support equipment in accordance with standard service level commitments. Service manuals will cover safety, Theory of Operation, Functional Diagrams, Field Replacement Units Removals and Replacements, Preventative Maintenance, Troubleshooting Procedures, Illustrated Parts, Installation and Mechanical/Electrical/Fluidic Schematics and Diagrams. Duties will include creating line art and other types of graphics to support and simplify complex technical information for use in documentation. Domestic and international travel is required.


SKILL REQUIREMENTS

- Strong ability to develop written technical content in English
- Experience in using PC applications, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Solidworks, Microsoft Access, Visio, and Word. Knowledge of Adobe FrameMaker highly desirable.
- Knowledge of structured documentation, including SGML and XML. Ability to modify and generate DTD's a plus.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and blueprints, reference hardware components, and execute technical illustrations, including isometric drawings and exploded views for parts, service and diagrams documents; ability to convert solid model files and other CAD-generated drawings for use in customer documentation.
- Ability to manipulate and enhance digital photographs using photo editing software.
- Ability to multi-task and bring multiple complex projects to completion on time.
- Knowledge of print production, including use of color and pre-press techniques.
- Strong written and verbal English communications skills
- 10% domestic and international travel.
- International communication skills a plus and fluency in language(s) other than English highly desirable.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of 10 years experience
Education: Associate Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with Minor in Commercial Art/Computer Graphics
Specific Experience: 5+ years in documenting industrial mechanical, electrical/electronic, and hydraulic equipment.
